Many of us have been watching anime for a very long time. Even if you have not, sometimes, the interest in it develops. Has anime inspired you at some point in your life? Whether it be your hobbies or a career path you have chosen, did your interest in anime play a part in this?

For me, I started drawing because I was always interested in the design of anime characters and how they drew them. Since I was a little girl I would buy "How to Draw Manga" books and would practice my drawing every day. I even wanted to seek a career in animation (although, that soon dissipated once I got older but for a very long time that was what I wanted to do). When I was younger, anime would even influence my fashion style. It played a large part in my life at a young age but I soon grew out of it. The interest is still there, I still enjoy watching anime/reading manga, and my preferred art style is that of a manga but everything I do is not of the intention of being related to anime (after all, that would be unhealthy). If it has, how has anime affected you?

In many ways yes it has, I am currently trying to work on a manga, while it won't be "Japanese" exactly I hope that it will at last get enough of a following to work on making it a film or a TV series.

Without a doubt anime has had a huge impact on my life.
When I was younger I used to draw all the time, but I remember when I first started to look at the more mang /anime style of drawing, my brother had one of those 'How to' books. And it was so nice I tried everything in the book.

I don't think I'd have alot of the amazing friends that I'd have if I hadn't been into anime. I met alot of my closest friends through it. I met my boyfriend of almost a year at Otakon 09 for goodness sake!

I think as I get older it wont be the center of my attention world, but it will always have a big influence on me.

I've been watching anime since I was 10. To be honest, I'm not entirely sure how it's impacted my life since I've been watching it for a long time. It's an entertainment for me - and at the very least, it's a way I can enjoy myself.

I recently started self teaching Japanese, and I think that would originally stem from my interest in anime, which developed my interest in manga, Japanese drama, Japanese culture and eventually language. One day, I'd like to become fluent in the language.

What I find the most appealing in anime is the character designs/art. Some of it is just really beautiful, and it captivates me. Next would have to be plot, I always love watching anime that carry interesting and strong themes. If you pay attention to those themes that are carried out through the series, you can always learn something from them. It's even more so for manga, where the story lines are usually thicker ( in terms of story) and there's more variety than anime.

I don't watch as much anime now (mostly because school gets in the way), but I read manga a lot. As far as I'm concerned, I don't think I'll ever quit watching anime or reading manga.

Anime influenced me emotionally. There are some circumstances when I can really relate to a character and it opens my eyes to new ideas. It also helped me with Japanese since I would rather watch anime than watch Japanese dramas.

Because of anime, I was also able to meet new friends and be connected with people all over the world who has the same common interest in terms of genre.

Anime has definatly influenced my life. I can't imagine going through a day or a year without it. I didn't even know what it was, but these showed called Sailor Moon, DragonBallZ, and Yu Yu Hakusho were the most beautiful things I've ever seen on TV. It turned out my first good friend was into the same thing, and got me into video games as well.

I started drawing anime. I wasn't very good. I could do the head and especially hair good but it was downhill from there. They looked like deformed, stick chibi people, but there was a sense of pride in creating something while imagining it being those beautiful people I saw on TV.

For me it's escapism when things were going wrong and I couldn't control them. Gorgeous escape from the ordinary world around me. I related better to anything those characters were going through instead of the old stories I read in school. I probably learned more about life from anime than anything else.

It gave me the best friends I could ever ask for and helped pave my way to what I wanted to do with my life: Writing. Even in my head, it tends to be anime style in there. Anime will always be with me because I can't imagine my life without it.

I think it influenced me in some type of way, if it weren't for anime I would never be interested in different cultures. I would have also never made the type of friends I made.
